My name is Ashley and I am a military wife.
This is never a journey I seriously thought I would be on. Self-proclaimed and recognized by friends and family as the "super-single" chick, being married, much less military, is beyond what I had within my sights. Last year at this time, I was a waitress at Huddle House anxiously waiting to hear back on an interview for a part time position at a juvenile detention center. I was working close to 50 hours a week in the only waitress position I'd ever held, and enjoying the single life as a free and clear woman. I was looking, but not overly curious. Maybe something serious would show up, maybe not. Whatever will be will be. In the past five years I have had my first boyfriend, gotten my associate's degree, had my first kiss, left home, traveled over Asia, found my center, fell in love, gotten my heart broken, renewed my relationship with my father, dated a crazy guy, left Georgia, kicked a few items off the bucket list, came back to Georgia, broke a friend's heart, and totaled my car.
And those are just a few of the highlights.
So needless to say, falling in love and settling down was not on the list for 2015/2016. I remember talking with my bestie Emily and sharing that I had always thought 24 was the perfect age to get married. At this time last year, I was not involved with anyone seriously and certainly didn't see myself married within the year. I was excited for my 2016 birthday because my insurance would go down~ since marriage didn't seem to likely be happening.
Imagine my surprise when a tall, gorgeous, sweet and funny man showed up and profoundly swept me off my feet. His name is James, and he is the love of my life. A blessing I'm not sure I ever saw really happening in my life.
Yet here he is. And here we are. And here is happiness.
Ever in love,
Ashley
